- How to remove hidden space by using CHAR?
- List of printable ASCII characters and codes
Syntax
CHAR(number)
where,
number: is the character code or the cell reference of the character code.
Example 1: CHAR(10) as line breaker:
The following image shows the use of CHAR(10) as line breaker. The formula is =B5&CHAR(10)&B6&CHAR(10)&B7, which returns the names in one cell with line break.
Suppose, we have hidden space in the cell B5. In the cell C5, we have use =TRIM(B5) and counted the number of characters in cell D5 with =LEN(C5). We found 30 as the number of characters.
To remove the hidden space, we use the formula =SUBSTITUTE(B5, CHAR(160), “”), and counted the number of characters in cell D6 by using the formula =LEN(C6) and found that the number of characters is 29, indicating that our formula has removed the hidden space.
